What a great meet at Thurso 14th/15th September! With only 4 swimmers competing over the weekend, team Inverness had some absolutely amazing results. Well done to the four girls; Mairi, Kaitlin, Isobel and Rachel who all had great swims over the weekend, plus a few medals, ribbons and gallons of fun to boot. Kaitlin: broke the 13-14 years meet record (set in 2009) and picked up gold for 100m breast, gold for100m backstroke, silver for 100m free and bronze in the 50m free open final. Kaitlin’s oldest brother Jordan also still holds the 13-14 years meet record for 100m breaststroke (which he set in 2009!!) Mairi picked up: silver in 100m fly, bronze in the 100m free & 4th ribbon for 100m back. Rachel: 4th ribbon for 100 breaststroke.
Inverness Amateur Swimming Clubs Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday the 6th November 2019 @ 6:30pm in the Colin Baillie room, next to the cafe. We hope to see as many of you there as possible as we cannot function as a club without parental involvement. Please come along and hear what we’re all about and how you can help.
Congratulations to our open water swimmers at the weekend’s SASA North District Open Water Championships. Swimming distances from 500m to 5k the team picked up 4 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronze.
For those masters swimmers keen to compete entries are now open for the Scottish National Open Water Championships at Loch Venacher (10-11 August), the Inverclyde Swim Meet (13-14 September), Midlands District Masters Championships at Dundee (28 September) and the Swim England Masters SC Championships (25-27 October).
If you have never competed before and thinking of trying ask a coach for advice, it’s a lot less scary than you think and there is usually a ceilidh or some other excuse to a have drink and socialise afterwards. See the Masters Swimming Events page for full list of competitions and links to entry details.
